01 Who we are
Anon Chat is an anonymous stranger-to-stranger text chat service. It runs serverlessly on Cloudflare Workers + Durable Objects, with structured data stored in Cloudflare D1 at the European edge. The operator is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR.
02 What we collect
- • A randomly-generated UUIDv4 identifier created in your browser tab. We never ask for your name, email, phone, IP, or any other personal data.
- • An optional gender you may select when starting a chat. You can leave it blank.
- • Pairing metadata for audits and admin analytics: start time, end time, total message count, and (if disclosed) genders of the two participants. Message content is never stored.
03 Lawful basis
We rely on your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) as the lawful basis for processing. The cookie banner you saw on first visit records this consent in your browser only.
04 Retention
Pairing records are automatically deleted after 7 days via a daily scheduled job. The in-browser session UUID is held in sessionStorage and disappears when you close the tab.
05 Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, export, rectify, and erase your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold no personal data tied to your identity, exercising these rights is straightforward:
- • Export or delete your data using your session UUID on the Your Data page.
- • Withdraw consent by clearing your browser storage.
- • Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority if you believe processing is unlawful.
06 Data processors
Cloudflare (and its EU infrastructure) acts as our processor under a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) available from Cloudflare. We do not share any data with third-party analytics, advertising, or marketing providers.
07 Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Anon Chat. By starting a chat, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly collect or process data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the service, please contact the operator so their session data can be purged.
08 Do not share personal information
Anon Chat is designed to be anonymous. Do not share personal information with strangers, including but not limited to your real name, home address, phone number, email, financial details, social media handles, or any information that could identify you or someone else. You are responsible for what you choose to type. We cannot prevent another user from acting on information you voluntarily share in a conversation.
09 No responsibility for off-platform activity
Anon Chat only provides the text-based chat interface on this website. We are not responsible for what happens outside of this platform. If you and a stranger decide to move to another app, service, or real-world meeting, that is entirely at your own risk. Anon Chat has no control over, and accepts no liability for, conversations, transactions, or interactions that take place on third-party platforms or in person.
10 Cookies
We use a single essential browser storage key (in sessionStorage) to remember your random UUID across reloads within the same tab. We do not use tracking, advertising, or third-party cookies.
11 Contact
Questions about this policy can be raised via the Your Data page or by contacting the operator (the email is published by the deployer of this instance).
